Why You Want More Energy- Trust Me- And You Can Totally Do This!

If there's one thing I love about optimal nutrition, it's that it gives you what you put into it.

If you switch one snack with a healthier option, you will feel a little bit better for a few hours.

If you overhaul your whole eating plan, you could improve your whole life.

Your life will literally grow parts to it that you never imagined having. When you have more energy, you tend to create time in your day to do things you never thought you'd have time to do. This takes time of course.

Your body needs time to heal and recover from any amount of unhealthy eating, but I LOVE that if you decide to turn it around, your body will diligently follow you into a healthier state of being as you feed it healthier foods.

Garbage in, garbage out. I've heard this, and I've lived it. I know how garbage feels. It feels low energy, tired, sick, confused, and frustrated. It makes me feel sad....

But as a nutritionist, I know that as soon as I decide to refuel my body (and actually do it), it can all turn around for the better.

Detox, Detoxify, Diet, Vitamins, Healthy

My new saying is:

Clean fuel in; more energy out.

And more energy isn't just good for waking up on time or getting through the afternoon without another cup of coffee. More energy can help lots of other areas of your life.

  • More energy improves your immunities and helps you stay well. AKA not as many infections or colds, and possibly fewer allergies
  • More energy gives you more focus and concentration. This is always my favorite unintended by-product of healthy eating. Better focus. yay!
  • More energy means it's easier to workout
  • More energy means better hormone balance
  • More energy means a healthier detox system which improves metabolism!!
  • More energy means better neurotransmitter production which means you feel happier.
  • More energy means more time, more productivity and better results.
You will love having more energy. You probably know what foods are better for you; the question is, will you eat them? Will you opt for clean fuel in and refuse the other options?

Of course you will! All you have to do is first decide that you need more energy. Say it out loud. Say it to a friend. Write it down, and start thinking about clean fuel and how to feed your body what it needs.

If you need help figuring that out, here's a few starter snack-swaps for more energy.
  • Swap green pea crisps for potato or corn chips
  • Swap pistachio nuts for candy or sweets
  • Swap a paleo dessert recipe for a piece of cake or muffin
  • Swap jello with a natural sweetener for pudding.
  • Swap a low sugar yogurt for ice cream
  • Swap a boiled egg for a breakfast pastry
Try to only eat foods 7 grams of sugar or less. And never use chemical sweeteners like equal or splenda. These sweeteners are tempting when trying to avoid sugar, but they will make you gain weight and feel more foggy/tired. As an alternative,  I look for stevia, erythritol, monk fruit, agave, or xylitol. Refined sugar lowers magnesium levels which can cause low energy, restless sleep, muscle aches and pain, and headaches.
